Why Persia Gateway exists
Moving to a new city is hard enough. Doing it in a new country — sorting out housing, the DMV, a bank account, healthcare, and schools, all while trying to find your community — can feel like a lot to carry at once.
Reliable local information is surprisingly hard to find, and it's harder still when you're new and don't yet know who to ask. Persia Gateway exists to make that first stretch easier: a place that brings together practical guidance, local events, and trusted resources for Iranians living in and moving to St. Louis — so you always have somewhere to start.
A community-built resource
Persia Gateway didn't begin as a company or an institution. It grew out of the ordinary experience of finding your footing in a new city — and realizing how much difference reliable information and a few good connections can make.
It's built around real needs, and it gets better as the community uses it. When something is missing, unclear, or out of date, that feedback is what shapes what comes next. The aim is simple: be genuinely useful, and be worth trusting.
What we believe
A few principles guide everything here.
Community first
Good local information should help people feel more at home, not just informed. Persia Gateway is meant to make St. Louis feel a little more familiar — especially for newcomers.
Trust and transparency
Listings and events are reviewed before they're published. When information might change, or we're not certain, we say so. And if something is wrong or out of date, corrections are always welcome — that's how a community resource stays honest.
Accessibility
Persia Gateway is bilingual, in English and Persian, so information is easier to reach whichever language you're more comfortable in. The goal is to lower the barrier to getting started, not add to it.
Education, not advertising
Guides are here to educate, not to sell. Businesses belong in the Directory, where people can find them directly. Being listed is never the same as an endorsement. If paid visibility is ever offered, it will be clearly labeled as paid — and it still won't mean an endorsement.
How Persia Gateway maintains trust
Trust is the whole point, so it's worth being clear about how it works.
Directory
The Directory helps people discover local services. When a listing is marked verified, it means the information was reviewed and checked. It does not mean Persia Gateway endorses the business, guarantees its quality, or confirms any licensing or certification — those judgments are yours to make.
Events
Events may come from official sources or be suggested by community members. Either way, they're reviewed before they go public — nothing is published automatically, and not every event is included. The calendar is meant to be a useful signal, not a complete list of everything happening in town.
Guides
Guides are educational. They avoid making things up, draw on reliable and official sources where it matters, and note when rules or details can change. If you spot something inaccurate, please tell us.
Freshness
Local rules, fees, and details shift over time. When a change is identified or someone reports one, the information is updated or removed rather than left to mislead.
For businesses and community organizers
If you run a business or service, a listing helps community members find something they're genuinely looking for — an Iranian-owned restaurant, a Persian-speaking professional, a neighborhood shop. Being listed puts you in front of people who want what you offer.
If you organize events, you can get in touch to suggest them. Sharing an event here helps connect people to gatherings, celebrations, and activities they'd want to know about.
Two things to keep in mind: a Directory listing is not an endorsement, and publishing an event doesn't imply approval of its quality. Persia Gateway's job is to help people discover what's out there — the rest is up to them.
How the community can help
Persia Gateway grows through community participation. You can submit a business or resource to the Directory, or get in touch to suggest an event, flag a correction, or tell us what would make this more useful. Every contribution makes the next person's start a little easier.
A note on the information here
Persia Gateway offers general, community-based information to help you get oriented. It isn't a substitute for professional advice, and details can change over time.
For anything important — especially legal, medical, financial, or immigration matters — please confirm the current details with official sources or a qualified professional before you act. When a decision carries real stakes, verify it independently.
How you can help
Add your business, share an event, suggest a resource, or tell us what newcomers need. Every contribution makes Persia Gateway more useful for the next person.
